about

mantramatic’s first album, “Transmission,” is mantra music for the new millennium. It's a cosmic set of 9 tracks which are guaranteed to transport you to a new inner space.

From the yogi-in-a-Himalayan-cave ambience of Long Ek Ong Kar to the jazzy 22-minute Wahe Guru (featuring the etheric flute of our own Jen) to the folkie-meets-meditative Guru Ram Das Chant, this is over an hour of pure cosmic bliss you won't want to miss.

Perfect for meditation, yoga (including the inevitable yoga naps--call it yoga nidra if that makes you feel good about it), and some of the lively ones like Rakhe Rakhanahaar might even move you to dance like Shiva or Shakti (your choice). This is positive music that will help you find the inner bliss you deserve.

Transmission is a new arrangement of a set of mantras introduced to the West by Yogi Bhajan. He called this set of mantras the "Aquarian Sadhana" and said that practicing it regularly would help people maintain their sanity during the transition from the older Piscean Age to the new Aquarian Age. This is a time of great change and transition, and practicing this set of mantras can help ground you.

The term "sadhana" simply means any regular spiritual practice. This specific set of mantras is a practice for these times, as we evolve from a more materialistic to a more spiritual humanity. Yogi Bhajan said that as the transition proceeded people would become more and more insane and confused, and it's easy to see that happening all around (as these notes are written, it is June 2020). He explained that the pressure of the changes will get to a point when the only thing that will bring sanity will be to sing and chant mantras together.

The main body of the album is a bit over 62 minutes long, which is the length of time generally suggested for a daily meditative practice. This length of time allows you to expand your consciousness to cover all of your 10 bodies, or aspects, and out into the entire universe. This starts with the "tuning in" mantra, Adi Mantra, and ends with "Sat Nam," which acknowledges that the truth is within each of us. There are also two bonus tracks.

You can sit or lie down and simply listen to the mantras, and as you learn them you can begin chanting with them, either out loud, or in a whisper to yourself, or totally silent, within yourself. Any of these will ground you and bring you to a changed state of consciousness. Try it for 10 days and see! If you don't have time for an hour of practice, try one mantra for 7 minutes. Most of the mantras are about 7 minutes, except for the really cosmic Wahe Guru at a full 22 minutes. Any amount of practice will be rewarding.

There have been many versions of these mantras recorded. This version was transmitted to me after many years of practice, going within, and meditating on the cosmic and primal sounds. It was composed by the infinite which is within each of us if we turn inside and listen. It is an offering, a small drop in the cosmic ocean, of peace for these times. It is the condensed amrit (nectar) of 30 years of Kundalini Yoga practice.
